General Home Repairs

Not every project we do needs to be a large one. It’s easy to feel that you need to wait until some major repair needs to be worked on before calling a handyman out to help with the project. But we do general home repairs too.

Many times we get asked the question, “I just have this little repair that needs worked on, do you do that?” We have done many small projects for our customers in the past and they’re always very happy that these little general repairs were able to be taken care of. So I made this general repairs page so you can get an idea of the things that we do, they are small, but they’re projects that our customers need to get done.
Sometimes the little projects can be the biggest headaches. So here’s just a list of some general repairs you too may need to have done around the house.

1. Leaky Faucet Repair/Replacement: Fixing drips from sinks, tubs, or showers, often involving O-rings, washers, or cartridge replacement.
2. Running Toilet Repair: Addressing toilets that continuously run, usually due to a faulty flapper, fill valve, or float.
3. Clogged Drain Clearing: Unclogging sinks, tubs, showers and toilets, using plungers, augers, or drain cleaners.
4. Drywall Patching: Repairing small holes or cracks in drywall from nails, anchors, or minor damage.
5. Door Adjustments (Squeaks, Sticking): Lubricating hinges, tightening screws, or planing edges to fix squeaky or sticking doors.
6. Loose Door Knob/Handle Tightening: Securing wobbly or loose door knobs and handles.
7. Cabinet Hinge Adjustment/Repair: Fixing sagging or misaligned cabinet doors by adjusting or replacing hinges.
8. Light Fixture Bulb Replacement: Replacing standard light bulbs, including those in hard-to-reach fixtures.
9. Loose Outlet/Switch Plate Tightening: Securing wobbly or loose electrical outlet and light switch covers.
10. Caulking Gaps (Windows, Tubs, Sinks): Re-applying or refreshing caulk around windows, bathtubs, showers, and sinks to seal gaps and prevent leaks.
11. Grout Repair/Re-grouting (Small Areas): Fixing cracked or missing grout in tile, particularly in bathrooms and kitchens.
12. Blind/Curtain Rod Installation/Repair: Hanging new blinds or curtain rods, or re-securing existing ones.
13. Picture Hanging: Securely hanging pictures, mirrors, or other wall decor.
14. Doorbell Repair: Troubleshooting and fixing non-functioning doorbells, often involving wiring or button replacement.
15. Smoke Detector Battery Replacement/Testing: Replacing batteries and testing the functionality of smoke detectors.
16. Minor Fence Picket Repair: Nailing loose pickets or replacing a single damaged picket on a wooden fence.
17. Screen Repair (Small Tears): Patching small tears in window or door screens.
18. Weatherstripping Replacement (Doors/Windows): Replacing worn or damaged weatherstripping to improve energy efficiency and reduce drafts.
19. Furniture Assembly (Small Items): Assembling flat-pack furniture like small shelves, tables, or chairs.
20. Door Stopper Installation/Repair: Installing new door stoppers or re-securing existing ones to protect walls.

Not all general home repairs need to be major ones

there’s no need to wait until there’s a major repair to call on your local handyman service. almost any home has a number of small repairs that need to be made simply bundle them up into one call make a list of four or six items that need to be worked on call call a handyman out and have them make all these repairs at the same time it gets these little headaches off your mind and it’s an efficient way to get the best value for your money.
